Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently shared insights on several pressing issues through his social media posts.
On June 18, 2025, Panetta tweeted about his meeting with members of the Coalition of Hindus of North America. The discussion centered around concerns about violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and the broader issue of rising Hinduphobia. He emphasized his commitment to engaging in thoughtful dialogue and exploring ways for the federal government to support human rights.
Later that day, Panetta expressed concern over immigration raids on farms. He highlighted how these actions threaten local rural economies and the food supply by destabilizing a workforce that agriculture heavily depends on. Panetta pointed out that many hardworking, law-abiding community members live in fear due to changing enforcement policies by the current administration.
On June 19, 2025, he reported meeting with a constituent to discuss safeguarding Medicare and Medicaid from what he described as reckless cuts. This reflects his ongoing engagement with constituents regarding vital healthcare programs.
Panetta was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and resides in Carmel Valley. He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a BA in 1991 and earned his JD from Santa Clara University in 1996.
