Rep. Jimmy Panetta, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently addressed several policy concerns on his official social media account, focusing on affordability, agricultural resources, and protections for immigrant witnesses.
On November 13, 2025, Panetta posted about the cost of living challenges in his district: “Affordability remains the top issue for residents in CA-19, and I won’t stop finding federal solutions to reduce the cost of living. Canceling ACA tax credits will only increase the cost of living for millions of Americans. I stand united with my colleagues in the House, and we https://t.co/aauTOnco3D”.
Later that day, he commented on a recent federal decision regarding mineral classification: “Great to see this Administration’s recognition of Phosphate and Potash as critical minerals that are necessary to make fertilizer. Our agricultural industry on the Central Coast relies on these minerals to produce the immense bounty that we are known for in the 19th Congressional” (November 13, 2025).
In a separate post from November 13, Panetta discussed legislation he introduced: “I authored and introduced my Immigrant Witness and Victim Protection Act to protect immigrants who cooperate with local law enforcement in order to prevent situations like this. As a former prosecutor, and now as a U.S. Representative, I’m committed to strengthening trust among”.
Panetta has represented California’s 19th District since replacing Sam Farr in 2017. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. His educational background includes a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a JD from Santa Clara University (1996).
