Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of updates on his official X account regarding constituent services, government transparency, and a recent federal court ruling.

On September 3, 2025, Panetta posted about assisting a constituent with delayed disability benefits. He wrote, “When a constituent faced delays with her disability benefits, she reached out to my office. I worked with Social Security and secured more than $34,000 in back pay and corrected her monthly benefits. I’ll always fight to make sure CA-19 residents get the benefits they’ve earned.”

Later that day, Panetta addressed the issue of public access to information related to Jeffrey Epstein. In his post from September 3, 2025, he stated, “The American people deserve transparency. The Epstein files should be unsealed so victims can have answers and the public can have accountability. I signed the bipartisan discharge petition in the House to protect victims and bring out this information.”

In another message dated September 3, 2025, Panetta commented on a federal judge’s decision regarding military deployment in Los Angeles: “A federal judge confirmed what many of us warned: The deployment of the National Guard and Marines to L.A. was illegal. No president can use our military as a personal police force. I support this ruling and will keep fighting to protect our democracy and the rule of law.”

Panetta has served as California’s 19th district representative since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr in Congress. He was born in Washington D.C., is currently 53 years old, resides in Carmel Valley, and holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
