Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently addressed several key topics in a series of social media posts. Panetta, born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley, is known for his focus on public service and community engagement.
On July 14, 2025, Panetta reflected on the legacy of presidential advisor David Gergen. In his post, he stated: “It is said that the primary political virtue is decency. David Gergen was a decent, warm individual who understood service to our nation as an advisor to Presidents and to the next generation as a professor. He will be missed, but his legacy of decency in politics must live on.”
Later that day, Panetta discussed local healthcare concerns within California’s 19th district. He wrote: “Proud to bring together local health care providers in CA-19 to call out the damage the partisan reconciliation tax law will do to working families in order to benefit the wealthiest families. We must continue to stand together to keep working families covered and our clinics and” (July 14, 2025).
In another post from July 14, 2025, Panetta highlighted his efforts to connect with constituents through office hours held in South San Jose: “Office hours are a chance for me to hear directly from my constituents and connect on the issues that matter most. I had the privilege of meeting one-on-one with constituents in South San Jose to hear concerns and offer assistance. I am always here to help with any issue you may”.
Panetta replaced Sam Farr as representative of California’s 19th District in 2017. He graduated from UC Davis with a BA in 1991 and earned his JD from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1996.
