U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has represented California’s 19th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to address key issues affecting his constituents and the broader American public.

On November 8, 2025, Panetta posted about a recent meeting with a constituent regarding educational priorities: “Recently met with a constituent to discuss the needs of educators in California’s 19th Congressional District. After this Administration’s attempts to dismantle the Department of Education, we must stand together to ensure that our students have the support they need for success.”

The following day, November 9, Panetta thanked local leaders for their efforts during the ongoing government shutdown and criticized delays in SNAP funding: “Thanks to our local leaders for helping our working families put food on the table. As this Administration chooses to delay SNAP funding during this shutdown, leadership must come from the community on up. I joined my colleagues to support the Keep SNAP and WIC Funded Act to”

Later that same day, Panetta addressed bipartisan cooperation and legislative efforts aimed at preventing future government shutdowns: “Keeping our government working for the American people is a bipartisan issue. That’s why I co-authored the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act so that shutdowns are a thing of the past. Now more than ever, we need bipartisan negotiations to reopen the government and lower costs for”

Panetta has served in Congress since succeeding Sam Farr in 2017. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. He holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD). His recent statements reflect ongoing debates about federal education policy, food assistance programs such as SNAP and WIC, and efforts within Congress to prevent future government shutdowns.
