U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in Congress, recently addressed a range of topics on his social media platform, including agricultural leadership, national security alliances, and legislative disputes within the House.
On July 17, 2025, Panetta shared his engagement with young leaders in agriculture: “Met with the California FFA State Officers to hear from the next generation of agricultural leaders. Their passion, knowledge, and commitment to farming and rural communities are exactly why I’m proud to co-chair the FFA Caucus in Congress.” The California FFA is an organization dedicated to preparing youth for careers in agriculture and supporting rural communities.
Later that day, Panetta commented on U.S. foreign policy regarding NATO: “Our allies shouldn’t ever have to question our nation’s commitment to NATO. Let’s pass my NATO Edge Act to reaffirm the world’s most successful alliance.” The statement comes amid ongoing discussions about U.S. participation and leadership within NATO.
In another post dated July 17, 2025, Panetta described delays affecting congressional proceedings: “I’m stuck in DC as Speaker Johnson and the Majority figure out the rules on the rescissions bill, which would gut foreign aid and public broadcasting. Something I’ll keep fighting against. The delay is all because they are debating whether to release the Epstein files. I’ll”
Panetta has represented California’s 19th district since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr.1 He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley.2 Panetta earned his undergraduate degree from UC Davis and a law degree from Santa Clara University.3
