U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who serves California’s 19th district, posted a series of messages on his social media account between October 31 and November 1, 2025, addressing local issues ranging from food insecurity to healthcare costs and environmental protection.
On October 31, Panetta wrote about his meeting with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County: “I met with those from the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County who report recent increased demands for their services. Thanks to Erica Padilla Chavez for her leadership at the local level to ensure that Second Harvest continues to feed working families in our community.” (October 31, 2025)
Later that day, he commented on efforts to oppose offshore drilling along California’s Central Coast: “Proud to join local leaders in our fight to prevent this Administration’s plan to drill offshore and stand together to protect our treasures on the Central Coast.” (October 31, 2025)
On November 1, Panetta highlighted concerns from constituents about rising healthcare premiums: “Several constituents recently reached out to me to share their alarm at seeing their healthcare premium costs for next year, including up to $2,000 increases per month. Republicans and Democrats need to get back to the table to find a bipartisan path forward to end this shutdown” (November 1, 2025).
Panetta has represented California’s 19th district since succeeding Sam Farr in Congress in 2017. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. Panetta holds a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a JD from Santa Clara University (1996).
