On May 8, 2025, Rep. Panetta addressed concerns regarding proposed tax cuts for billionaires by the Majority party. He stated that “The nonpartisan CBO confirms that the Majority’s plans to pay for tax cuts to billionaires would gut Medicaid and strip health care from millions.” The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report has sparked debate over potential impacts on Medicaid.
The following day, on May 9, Rep. Panetta highlighted a meeting with local leaders aimed at improving community services. He noted that they “Had a productive meeting with local leaders today to discuss partnerships that ensure disaster relief, improve rural health care, and provide ongoing support for our producers.” He emphasized their collective effort to enhance community resilience and future prospects.
Later on May 9, Rep. Panetta celebrated a legal victory involving Cliona Ward’s release. He remarked that “Cliona Ward is released, and that’s what happens when we fight for transparency, due process, and justice.” His involvement spanned various locations from Santa Cruz to Ireland.
