U.S. Congressman Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district and has served in Congress since 2017, posted a series of updates on July 18, 2025, addressing LGBTQ youth mental health resources, local educational achievements, and international cooperation with Ukraine.

In his first post on July 18, Panetta highlighted recent changes to the federal suicide prevention hotline for LGBTQ youth. He wrote: “1.5 million LGBTQ youth have used the “Press 3” suicide prevention line (988) since 2022. Now, this Administration has cut it off. California is stepping up with the Trevor Project to keep these life-saving services going. If you or someone you know is struggling with feelings”.

Later that day, Panetta recognized a local accomplishment involving Pamela Ortega, a single mother and McDonald’s General Manager in Sand City. In his post from July 18 at 21:00 UTC, he stated: “Congratulations to Pamela Ortega, a dedicated single mom and General Manager at the McDonald’s on Canyon Del Rey in Sand City, on earning her associate degree in Business Administration from Colorado Tech! Through McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity program, Pamela turned hard”.

On the evening of July 18, Panetta shared details about a meeting with Ukrainian Parliament Member Oleksandra Ustinova. He wrote: “Appreciated the chance to meet with Ukrainian Parliament Member Oleksandra Ustinova to discuss the frontline situation and the critical importance of continued U.S.–Ukraine cooperation in defending our shared values.”
