Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th District since 2017, recently addressed several issues affecting his district and the nation through a series of posts on July 11, 2025. Panetta, born in Washington, D.C., and currently residing in Carmel Valley, highlighted community resilience after a local tragedy, challenges faced by agricultural workers due to immigration policies, and concerns over federal health care legislation.
On July 11, 2025, Panetta visited Templeton Feed and Grain store following a significant fire that damaged the historic building. He stated: “Visited the Templeton Feed and Grain store as they work to clean up after the tragic fire. While the loss of this historic building is heartbreaking, the resilience of this family-owned business and the support from the community are deeply inspiring.”
Later that day, he commented on difficulties faced by agricultural workers in his district amid current federal immigration policy. On July 11, 2025 he wrote: “Farmers and farmworkers in our state and CA-19 are being forced to live in fear while trying to feed our nation. The Administration’s chaos-first approach to immigration is hurting the very people who power our agriculture.”
In another post dated July 11, 2025, Panetta criticized recent changes to federal tax law affecting public health programs. He said: “The President’s reconciliation tax law cuts Medicaid, threatens public health, and risks unraveling the care that a significant portion of CA-19 relies on. I will continue to stand with local health leaders to protect care, defend working families, and build a healthier future.”
Jimmy Panetta succeeded Sam Farr as representative for California’s 19th District in Congress in 2017. He holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
