U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who serves California’s 19th district, marked the second anniversary of the October 7th attacks in a series of posts on October 7, 2025. Panetta reflected on his experiences in the Middle East and addressed ongoing domestic issues affecting his constituents.
In a post dated October 7, 2025, Panetta stated, “Today marks the 2nd Anniversary of the October 7th attacks. I am proud to have been part of the first U.S. delegation to visit Israel on October 10. That and my many trips to Israel, the West Bank, the Gaza Envelope, and the Middle East have all provided me with a solid”.
Later that day, Panetta commented on the federal government shutdown and its impact on workers in his district: “Last week, I heard from some of the over 7,000 federal workers in CA-19. This shutdown impacts all of us, and why I will continue to push for negotiations to protect healthcare, cut costs, and reopen the federal government.”
In another post from October 7, Panetta highlighted the importance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) for educational access: “HSIs are vital to ensuring those in CA-19 and across the country have access to high-quality and affordable higher education. Thousands of students in CA-19 have been able to attend college because of HSIs, and I will continue to work in Congress to restore this funding.”
Panetta has represented California’s 19th district in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. Panetta earned a BA from the University of California, Davis in 1991 and a JD from Santa Clara University in 1996.
