Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media highlighting his recent legislative and constituent service efforts.
On November 16, 2025, Panetta addressed concerns regarding military families and their access to basic needs. He wrote, “The current rules written for the Basic Needs Allowance means too many of our servicemembers and their families have to choose between keeping a roof over their head and putting food on the table. That’s why I led a bipartisan letter to ensure our service members no longer have”.
Later that day, Panetta described assisting a constituent with an urgent visa issue. On November 16, 2025, he stated, “When a constituent asked for help expediting her mother’s visa application so they could be together during her medical treatment, I was moved to act. I worked closely with the U.S. Department of State to review the case, and the department quickly accelerated the visa process.”
Continuing his focus on economic issues, Panetta criticized current trade policies in another post dated November 17, 2025: “Working families have borne the brunt of this Administration’s senseless tariff policy that has raised prices and caused a great amount of economic uncertainty. As a member of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade, I have introduced bipartisan legislation to reclaim”.
Panetta has served as California’s 19th District representative since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University (1996).
