California’s 19th congressional district is currently represented by Jimmy Panetta, who has been serving in this capacity since 2017. On May 1, 2025, Panetta shared his recent engagement with the new Commander of the Navy Region Southwest, which is responsible for key military installations within his district. He emphasized, “These bases are vital to our national security and play a critical role in supporting our local economy and workforce.”
The following day, on May 2, Panetta addressed international concerns by highlighting China’s involvement in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He stated, “China’s support for Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine is a direct threat to global stability and democratic values.” In response, he has proposed the bipartisan NO LIMITS Act aimed at holding Chinese entities accountable for their actions and countering authoritarian alignments.
Later the same day, Panetta commemorated the beginning of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. He recognized the importance of celebrating the cultural diversity and contributions of these communities, expressing his appreciation by stating, “Grateful for the strength they bring to the CA-19 community and our country.”
Panetta, who was born in 1969 in Washington, D.C., and currently resides in Carmel Valley, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis, and a Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University.
