Rep. Jimmy Panetta, serving California’s 19th district since 2017, recently addressed concerns regarding Social Security and local public safety initiatives through a series of tweets. On March 18, 2025, Panetta expressed his apprehension about the current administration’s approach to Social Security and invited constituents to an Emergency Virtual Town Hall.

On March 18, Rep. Jimmy Panetta tweeted about the reliance of millions on Social Security, including “140,000 people in CA-19 alone.” He criticized the administration for allegedly dismantling the Social Security Administration (SSA) instead of strengthening it. He urged constituents to join his Emergency Virtual Town Hall scheduled for the following day at 5:00 PM “Millions of seniors…”

Later that day, at 15:00 UTC, Panetta reminded followers about the town hall meeting happening that evening with former SSA Commissioner Martin O’Malley. The discussion would focus on how “the Administration’s reckless cuts are putting Social Security at risk.” He highlighted that “$282 million in benefits go to over 140,000 people every month” in California’s 19th district alone “Tonight at 5:00 PM!”

At 16:30 UTC on the same day, Panetta shared his involvement in the groundbreaking ceremony for Paso Robles’ new public safety training center. He emphasized its importance for first responders and noted securing $500,000 in federal funding for this project “Great to participate…”
