U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has represented California’s 19th district in Congress since 2017, recently addressed several issues on his social media account. Panetta, a Carmel Valley resident and graduate of UC Davis and Santa Clara University, commented on tax law reforms, rising tariffs under the current administration, and local community challenges.
On July 16, 2025, Panetta shared his experience participating in a discussion with state officials: “Honored to be invited by Speaker Rob Rivas and the CA General Assembly to break down the reconciliation tax law. My colleagues and I covered the good, the bad, and the ugly about the law, including its tax breaks for billionaires that will be paid for cuts in benefits for working https://t.co/2qNVIToDmo”.
Later that day, he expressed concerns about federal trade policy: “As tariffs soar to historic levels under this Administration, Congress can’t stay on the sidelines. On the Trade Subcommittee, I’m working to reassert Congress’s constitutional role in trade policy so we can protect American consumers, strengthen our supply chains, and restore” (posted July 16).
In another post from July 16 regarding local matters in Templeton: “The loss of the grain elevator and silos at Templeton Feed and Grain is tough to see for a community that grew around them. I visited to see the damage firsthand. Much gratitude to our first responders and community for standing up and standing strong through Templeton’s https://t.co/nDsqSkDj1Z”.
Panetta has served as California’s representative since replacing Sam Farr in 2017. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and has been active both nationally—on congressional subcommittees—and locally within his district.
