Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues of government transparency, honoring military service, and housing affordability.

On December 8, 2025, Panetta called for the release of a video unless there are security concerns. He stated, “The American people deserve transparency. If there’s no security issues, like the other videos, then release this video.”

Later that day, he commemorated the anniversary of Pearl Harbor by recognizing those who served aboard the USS Missouri. In his post dated December 8, 2025, Panetta wrote: “I recently had the privilege of paying my respects to those who perished on the USS Missouri. On the 84th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, we honor the servicemembers and veterans who gave their lives fighting for our country.”

On December 9, 2025, Panetta addressed housing policy by promoting his legislative efforts in Congress. He stated: “My ‘More Homes on the Market Act’ will make it easier for people to sell their homes, boosting the number of homes that come on the market. I will continue to work in Congress to address the housing crisis and make housing more affordable.”

Panetta has represented California’s 19th District since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley at age 53. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from University of California, Davis (1991) and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University (1996).
