U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has represented California’s 19th district in Congress since 2017, recently used his social media platform to address several legislative and community matters. Panetta’s posts covered topics ranging from worker protections to individual constituent advocacy and local leadership.
On September 16, 2025, Panetta posted about ongoing efforts in Congress related to labor rights: “The Administration is once again attacking workers and trying to strip protections. Good to work with Senator Warren & Rep. Sherman on legislation to support workers.”
Later that day, he highlighted his involvement in assisting a U.S. Army officer who faced financial issues during deployment: “While deployed, a U.S. Army officer missed thousands in TSP contributions. I worked with DFAS to recover over $18,000 in missed and misapplied funds. Soldiers shouldn’t have to battle bureaucracy while serving our country, and I’m proud to step in when they do.”
On September 17, 2025, Panetta recognized the legacy of Larry deGhetaldi for his service in health care: “Larry deGhetaldi dedicated his life to making health care more accessible for our community. His leadership, advocacy, and kindness left a lasting mark on Santa Cruz, CA-19, and beyond. We are grateful for his service and example, and my thoughts are with his loved ones.”
Panetta was elected to represent California’s 19th district after Sam Farr retired from Congress in 2017. Born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley at age 53, Panetta holds degrees from the University of California, Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
