Rep. Jimmy Panetta, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district, has recently taken to social media to discuss various legislative initiatives and concerns. Panetta, who succeeded Sam Farr in 2017, is actively involved in addressing issues related to disaster response, agricultural innovation, and infrastructure investments.
On June 3, 2025, Rep. Panetta emphasized the importance of protecting disaster victims from exploitation with his bipartisan legislation. He stated that “When wildfires, floods, or hurricanes strike, families shouldn’t have to choose between safety and security.” His LOOTER Act aims to ensure accountability under federal law for those exploiting such vulnerable situations.
Continuing his legislative efforts on June 4, 2025, Panetta announced the reintroduction of his Plant Biostimulant Act. He explained that this act would provide “farmers and producers a clear, science-based path to market for innovative tools that improve soil health.” The focus is on enhancing crop yields and promoting sustainability through these new measures.
Later on June 4th, Panetta expressed concern over potential cuts to critical infrastructure programs like BRIC (Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities). He remarked that “Ending it now puts lives, homes, and billions of taxpayer dollars at risk.” He affirmed his commitment to leading a bipartisan effort aimed at restoring these vital investments.
Panetta was born in Washington D.C., resides in Carmel Valley at age 53, graduated from UC Davis with a BA in 1991 and earned a JD from Santa Clara University in 1996.
