Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 19th district since 2017, has recently used his social media platform to criticize several actions by the current administration and to highlight his legislative efforts.
On May 13, 2026, Panetta posted about his opposition to the administration’s foreign policy and its domestic economic impact: “This Administration’s prolonged war of choice continues to raise the cost of food and to harm our growers and producers. Later that day, he voiced concern over proposed changes within a federal agency: “This Administration’s reckless proposal to reorganize the U.S. Forest Service is yet another attack on our environment and communities. In another post from May 13, Panetta addressed economic issues affecting families and vulnerable groups: “H.R. 1 continues to increase costs for working families and cut vital federal assistance for vulnerable communities who need it the most. I voted against the bill, and I will continue to fight to lower costs for working families and reverse the healthcare and SNAP cuts that are”.
Panetta was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. He holds a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a JD from Santa Clara University (1996). After replacing Sam Farr in Congress in 2017, Panetta has consistently represented California’s 19th District.
