Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of updates on July 24, 2025, highlighting his recent actions to assist constituents and advocate for federal funding and transparency in government agencies.
In one post, Panetta recounted his efforts to help a constituent obtain her father’s military records after they were lost in the St. Louis archive fire. On July 24, he wrote: “When a constituent struggled to get her father’s military records after the St. Louis archive fire, I stepped in. We secured proof of service in two weeks and ensured her father’s medals, including the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman Badge, were delivered directly to her” (July 24, 2025).
Later that day, Panetta addressed concerns over delayed federal education investments by the current administration. He stated: “The Administration is holding back $7 billion in federal education investments, including nearly $1 billion for California. I joined two Congressional requests to release this funding. Every student in CA-19 deserves a fully funded classroom and every opportunity to succeed.” (July 24, 2025).
In another update on July 24, Panetta discussed his involvement with colleagues from the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) as they engaged with former officials from NOAA and the National Weather Service regarding internal agency developments under the current administration. He posted: “This week, I joined my SEEC colleagues to hear directly from former NOAA and National Weather Service officials about what’s happening inside their old agencies under this Administration.
I’ll keep pushing for science, transparency, and investments that keep Americans informed” (July 24, 2025).
Panetta has served as U.S. Representative for California’s 19th district since replacing Sam Farr in 2017; he was born in Washington D.C., earned degrees from UC Davis and Santa Clara University School of Law, and currently resides in Carmel Valley.
