Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on recent legislative and community activities through his social media posts on November 6, 2025.
In a post early that morning, Panetta described his engagement with local constituents regarding ongoing international developments: “Good meeting with constituents to discuss the current ceasefire in the Middle East. With a deep understanding of the complexities and difficulties of the conflict, these types of informed discussions, especially about what the United States and Arab partners can and must continue” (November 6, 2025).
Later that day, he addressed domestic policy issues by highlighting efforts to avoid federal government shutdowns: “Shutdowns of the federal government hurt working families, our economy, and our country. That is why I introduced bipartisan legislation to prevent future shutdowns and bring Democrats and Republicans to the table to negotiate. My job is to ensure that the federal government” (November 6, 2025).
In another post on November 6, Panetta referenced meetings with marine scientists from his district: “Always great to meet with local marine scientists and learn about their research initiatives. But always difficult to hear about the cuts they are enduring due to this Administration. Marine science is a big part of our CA-19 community, so I am proud to support their work and” (November 6, 2025).
Panetta has served as a congressional representative for California’s 19th District since replacing Sam Farr in 2017. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley at age 53. His academic background includes a BA from UC Davis earned in 1991 and a JD from Santa Clara University completed in 1996.
