Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, has been actively sharing updates on his recent activities and opinions through social media. Born in Washington, D.C., Panetta is an alumnus of the University of California, Davis, and Santa Clara University.
On June 9, 2025, Rep. Panetta shared his experience visiting a site with the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Agency. He stated: “Had the pleasure of visiting a hidden gem with the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Agency. We’re conserving land, enhancing species, and strengthening local-federal partnerships to preserve biodiversity. Proud to ensure that the federal government plays its part in this partnership.”
The following day, June 10, he expressed concerns regarding actions taken by President Trump’s administration in Los Angeles. In his post, he mentioned: “What’s happening in Los Angeles is due to this Administration’s desire for retribution, provocation, and distraction. President Trump is using our military to punish states like California that stand up to him.” He emphasized continued peaceful protection for contributors within these states.
Later on June 10, Rep. Panetta highlighted legislative efforts related to weather preparedness across party lines: “Weather disasters don’t care about party lines. We need experts in place to help prepare. Proud to help introduce the bipartisan Weather Workforce Improvements Act to protect NWS jobs and ensure families in CA-19 and across the country get the forecasts they depend on.”
