U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who serves California’s 19th district in Congress, recently shared updates on community events and legislative actions through a series of posts on July 27, 2025.
In one post, Panetta reflected on his participation in a local sporting event: “Nice to be asked to play in this year’s Pickleball for Parkinson’s tournament in Monterey County! Although I lost (despite having the best partner out there) on the court, being a part of the tournament was a huge win for Parkinson’s care, advocacy, and research. Addressing education funding issues later that day, Panetta stated: “For the past few weeks, I joined educators and lawmakers in demanding the release of nearly $7 billion in frozen federal education funds, including $928 million for California. After our sustained pressure, the Administration backed down. That’s a win for our students, our” (July 27, 2025).
On healthcare policy developments impacting his district, Panetta posted: “Because of a targeted provision in the Majority’s reconciliation law, Planned Parenthood clinics like the one in Santa Cruz are losing Medicaid funding and forced to shut down. Panetta has represented California’s 19th district since succeeding Sam Farr in Congress in 2017. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. His educational background includes a BA from University of California, Davis and a JD from Santa Clara University.
