U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who serves California’s 19th district, posted a series of updates on September 26, 2025, regarding infrastructure discussions, federal funding for storm damage recovery in Santa Cruz County, and concerns about the potential lapse of Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits.
In his first post at 20:30 UTC, Panetta stated: “Appreciated the opportunity to meet with local leaders in construction to discuss how we can strengthen our infrastructure, improve permitting, and invest in a resilient workforce that supports communities across the country.”
Later that evening at 22:00 UTC, he highlighted efforts to secure disaster recovery funds for his district: “Proud to help secure nearly $7M in FEMA reimbursements coming to Santa Cruz County to repair storm damage, from Mountain Charlie Rd. to culvert and pipeline repairs. Not easy with this Administration, but we’ll keep pressing for the federal funding necessary to fully recover.”
At 22:30 UTC on the same day, Panetta addressed healthcare policy issues: “If ACA tax credits lapse, health providers lose $32B, working families face 75% premium hikes, and communities get stuck with billions in unpaid bills. We must extend these credits to protect care for working families and keep costs down for all Americans.”
Jimmy Panetta has represented California’s 19th district since succeeding Sam Farr in Congress in 2017. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. Panetta holds a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991), and earned his JD from Santa Clara University (1996).
