Jimmy Panetta, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, has recently shared several updates on social media concerning legislative initiatives and community issues. Born in Washington, D.C., Panetta currently resides in Carmel Valley and has an academic background from the University of California, Davis, and Santa Clara University.

On July 8, 2025, Panetta invited his constituents to participate in one of his many telephone town halls. He stated that the discussion would focus on “the impacts of the President’s reconciliation bill” with participation from local and state experts to elaborate on its significance for both the community and the country. The event was scheduled for 5 PM with a dial-in number provided: “833-380-0413”.

The following day, July 9, Panetta expressed his support for congressional legislation aimed at making immigration enforcement more transparent and accountable. He emphasized that officers should be required to display their name, badge, and agency clearly. According to him, “No one should be detained by unidentified agents in unmarked gear,” calling this measure “common sense.”

Later on July 9, he addressed a tragic incident involving over 100 lives lost due to catastrophic floods in Texas. Offering condolences to those affected, he noted that while grieving is necessary, action must also follow. In response to such disasters, Panetta announced his role as co-leader of the bipartisan Weather Workforce Improvement Act intended to enhance staffing capabilities.
