Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on July 20, 2025, highlighting his recent engagements with local businesses and organizations as well as his legislative priorities.
In a tweet from July 20, Panetta shared details about a visit to a local restaurant: “Stopped by Kenzo Sushi in South San Jose to meet with owner Jamie Cho and hear directly about the challenges and opportunities facing local restaurants. From tariffs to workforce issues, small business voices like theirs help guide my work in Congress to support local economies.”
Later that day, he discussed his visit to CAPSLO’s Atascadero Center: “Great to be back with CAPSLO today for a tour of their Atascadero Center and a conversation about their work to support children, families, and farmworkers across CA-19. I’ll keep fighting for the federal investments they need to continue this vital mission.”
In another post on July 20, Panetta addressed concerns regarding healthcare policy: “The reconciliation tax law puts the healthcare of thousands of people in CA-19 at risk by gutting Medicaid and threatening rural hospitals. I will keep working with local leaders to protect health care in our community.”
Panetta has served as the congressional representative for California’s 19th district since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University (1996).
