On April 11, 2025, Rep. Panetta expressed his commitment to the music community, emphasizing the need to support independent creators and incentivize new sound recordings. In his tweet, he highlighted a recent discussion focused on these issues: “Had an opportunity to discuss supporting independent creators, incentivizing the production of new sound recordings, and helping our music community thrive.”
Later the same day, Panetta addressed the issue of trade authority, asserting the constitutional power of Congress over the President in trade matters. On the legislation front, he stated: “The Constitution gives Congress, not the President, the power over trade. My Reclaim Trade Powers Act repeals outdated authority that’s been misused to impose harmful tariffs without accountability. It’s time to bring balance back to trade policy.”
In another engagement, Rep. Panetta met with the California Association of County Veterans Service Officers to discuss the pressing challenges faced by veterans, particularly due to VA staff reductions. He affirmed his dedication to veteran support by noting: “Had an important meeting with the California Association of County Veterans Service Officers. We discussed the challenges veterans are facing, especially with VA staff reductions, and my commitment to supporting our veterans and ensuring they get the care they deserve.”
Panetta, now 53, was born in Washington, D.C., and resides in Carmel Valley. His engagement in legislative measures and community discussions reflects his ongoing efforts since joining Congress.
