U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who serves California’s 19th district, posted a series of updates on his social media accounts between September 25 and 26, 2025, highlighting local achievements, constituent services, and concerns about federal trade policy.
On September 25, Panetta celebrated local recognition for a landmark in his district. He wrote: “Great to see the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk chosen as the best in the U.S. Proud that our local landmark tops Fodor’s list of our nation’s boardwalks and proves there’s no better place to end summer than in CA-19.” The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a notable attraction in Panetta’s district.
The following day, Panetta highlighted his office’s efforts assisting constituents with federal agencies. In a post dated September 26, he stated: “A constituent came to my office after the IRS miscalculated his 2023 taxes. I worked to provide the right evidence, and helped secure the refund he was owed: $4,655.32. If you’re having trouble with a federal agency, I am here to help.”
Later on September 26, Panetta addressed economic issues related to national trade policies by criticizing current tariff practices. He wrote: “This Admin’s reckless tariff policy is driving up costs for families and small businesses with the highest rates since the Great Depression. I spoke in Committee about why Congress must reclaim its constitutional authority on trade and act to lower prices for our constituents”.
Jimmy Panetta has represented California’s 19th District since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. Born in Washington D.C., Panetta currently resides in Carmel Valley and is an alumnus of UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
