Born in Washington, D.C., Panetta holds a BA from the University of California, Davis, and a JD from Santa Clara University.
On March 22, 2025, Panetta expressed his enthusiasm about meeting with Santa Clara County Supervisor Betty Duong to discuss strengthening collaboration between federal and local governments. He emphasized their joint aim to improve life in South San Jose and stated: “Always great to meet with Santa Clara County Supervisor Betty Duong to discuss how we can strengthen collaboration between federal and local governments to improve life in South San Jose. Later that day, Panetta addressed challenges faced by organizations assisting homeless veterans due to a cumbersome VA grant process. He announced his cooperation with fellow representatives in introducing the Simplifying Veterans Assistance Act. His tweet read: “Too many organizations helping homeless veterans struggle with a VA grant process bogged down by red tape. Proud to work with @CongressmanGT, @RepDonDavis, & Rep. Bresnahan to introduce the Simplifying Veterans Assistance Act to ensure vets get the support they deserve.”
In another post on March 22, 2025, Panetta highlighted his successful intervention in recovering $174,000 in SSA payments for a constituent. Encouraging constituents facing difficulties with federal agencies to reach out for assistance, he tweeted: “Proud to have successfully helped a constituent recover $174,000 in SSA payments that were rightfully owed to him. If you’re having trouble with federal agencies, please contact me for help.”
