U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has represented California’s 19th district in Congress since 2017, shared updates on his recent activities and positions through a series of posts on social media.
On October 19, 2025, Panetta attended a local event and wrote, “Honored to be at the Santa Cruz Diversity Center’s Awards Gala to recognize community members who exhibit true allyship.” Later that evening, he posted about his visit to a local business, stating on October 19, 2025: “Great to visit a local car dealership to learn more about the impacts of tariffs on our auto businesses. I stand with our local businesses, and I will continue to fight for them through my work in Congress.”
The following day, on October 20, 2025, Panetta addressed civil liberties issues. He posted, “Citizens exercising their rights to protest and engage in peaceful expressions of free speech are not a rebellion. I am proud to join my colleagues in a letter to the Administration requesting that they rescind the deployments of National Guard troops that are improperly”.
Panetta has served in Congress since replacing Sam Farr in 2017. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. His educational background includes a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a JD from Santa Clara University (1996).
