Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of updates on August 22, 2025, highlighting legislative initiatives and community engagement efforts.

In a post from August 22, Panetta emphasized the importance of trust in public safety, stating, “Trust is the foundation of public safety. When victims can’t come forward, justice breaks down. That’s why I reintroduced the Immigrant Witness and Victim Protection Act to restore trust, protect the vulnerable, and hold criminals accountable.”

Later that day, he commented on a federal investment for a local project: “Proud to help deliver federal investment for Scotts Valley’s long-awaited Town Center project. This partnership is about building the heart of the city, a place for people to gather, shop, dine, and connect. Excited to see this vision move closer to reality.”

Panetta also visited a longstanding San Jose business and discussed challenges faced by small businesses: “Great to visit San Jose’s Golfland Emerald Hills, a community staple since 1981. Like so many small businesses, they faced tough challenges during COVID, but PPP loans helped keep staff on the payroll. Now, as tariffs raise costs, I’m working to keep family fun and local jobs”.

Jimmy Panetta has represented California’s 19th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley at age 53. Panetta holds degrees from the University of California, Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
