Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight local educational achievements, discuss Middle East diplomacy efforts, and advocate for military personnel during a government shutdown.
On October 11, 2025, Panetta commended a local school district: “Congratulations to the Santa Cruz City Schools for being recognized as some of America’s Healthiest Schools. This recognition highlights the hard work being done in Santa Cruz to ensure our students are both physically and emotionally healthy.”
Later that day, he addressed ongoing conflict in the Middle East by sharing his diplomatic engagements: “I have met with Israeli and regional leaders in the Middle East countless times to discuss paths forward to ending the war between Israel and Hamas. It is clear, we need a peace deal where Hamas no longer exists in Gaza, Israel lives in peace, and a foundation for a two-state” (posted on October 11, 2025).
In another post on October 11, 2025, Panetta expressed support for U.S. service members amid government funding uncertainty: “I am proud to join my colleagues in demanding Speaker Johnson bring legislation to the floor that ensures our troops get paid during this shutdown. I will continue to fight for our service members, their families, and their livelihoods.”
Panetta has represented California’s 19th district since replacing Sam Farr in 2017 and resides in Carmel Valley. He was born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and holds degrees from the University of California, Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
