Rep. Jimmy Panetta, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to highlight congressional oversight efforts, constituent services, and advocacy for education funding.
On July 25, 2025, Panetta posted about a visit to an immigration detention facility in California: “Today, I toured the largest immigration detention facility in California to conduct congressional oversight, ask tough questions, and demand that detainees are treated properly. As this Administration expands and increases detention facilities with billions from the https://t.co/g8vWKKv5au”.
Later that day, he shared an example of constituent assistance: “A constituent contacted me after waiting too long for her 2023 IRS refund. I helped submit the right documentation and pushed for resolution. She got her full refund of $1,894.07. Despite the division in D.C., I work with anybody to ensure the federal government works for you https://t.co/4b1ewFgVyf” (July 25, 2025).
On July 26, 2025, Panetta announced progress on federal education funding: “We kept the pressure on this administration, and they’ve backed down, releasing the $7B in education funds it froze on July 1st, including $928M for California. We worked hard to get this funding flowing again. https://t.co/lbR2W1WHfD”.
Panetta has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Sam Farr in 2017 and represents constituents from California’s 19th district. Born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley at age 53, Panetta holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
