Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who has represented California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative efforts and local developments.

On December 15, 2025, Panetta posted about his recent vote in the Ways and Means Committee: “Last week, I voted in the Ways and Means Committee to advance legislation aimed at protecting private taxpayer information. My Taxpayer Notification and Privacy Act would ensure that taxpayers are informed when the IRS asks a third-party for private information. I will continue”.

Later that day, he addressed labor rights issues with another post: “I once again stood with a bipartisan group and voted to repeal this Administration’s attempt to destroy rights for federal workers. I will continue to work in Congress to protect unions and federal workers.”

On December 16, Panetta welcomed a new constituent while emphasizing environmental priorities: “Welcome to our newest member of California’s 19th Congressional District. Together, we will continue to work to protect our immense marine life in CA-19.”

Panetta succeeded Sam Farr as representative of California’s 19th district in 2017. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. His educational background includes a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a JD from Santa Clara University (1996).
