U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has served California’s 19th district since 2017, recently posted a series of updates on his official social media account highlighting local achievements and expressing concerns over national drug policy.
On May 12, 2026, Panetta celebrated progress on a local infrastructure project, stating, “Had a great time at the groundbreaking of the Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve’s Heart’s Delight Trail improvement project. I was proud to secure an $800,000 grant for this project in 2024 and it’s outstanding to see those federal dollars in action helping build a more”.
Later that day, he acknowledged a milestone for a regional cultural institution: “Congratulations to the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History for three decades of displaying the history and artistic talent throughout the Santa Cruz Community. Here’s to another 30 years of this pillar of California’s 19th Congressional District.” (May 12, 2026).
In another post from May 12, Panetta addressed public health challenges facing his district and others nationwide: “Communities all across the country right now, including in California’s 19th Congressional district, are grappling with the severe threats posed by a volatile and life-threatening drug supply. The last thing Secretary Kennedy and this Administration should be doing is ending”.
Panetta has represented California’s 19th congressional district since replacing Sam Farr in 2017. Born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley, Panetta holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD). His recent posts reflect ongoing engagement with both community development initiatives and broader legislative concerns impacting his constituents.
