U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who serves California’s 19th district, recently used his social media platform to highlight his continued opposition to federal offshore drilling plans and to express support for federal safety net programs.
On November 2, 2025, Panetta wrote: “We fought back and won against the first Trump Administration’s plans to drill along the Central Coast. Together, we will continue to fight back against this Administration’s leasing plan and continue our hard to protect our coastal environment and economy in CA-19.”
The following day, on November 3, he shared another post discussing his commitment to supporting vulnerable Americans through federal programs: “I recently had the opportunity to discuss federal safety net programs with one of my constituents. I am committed to ensuring the federal government delivers for our working families to strengthen our safety net and empower vulnerable Americans.”
Later that same day, Panetta provided a specific example of how such programs can impact lives: “Federal programs can be life-changing for families like the Dealys. Trevor was deemed unemployable by the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, but through utilizing Medicaid programs and services, he has started an in-home business creating artisanal soaps. I’m proud to fight”
Panetta has represented California’s 19th District since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. Panetta holds a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a JD from Santa Clara University (1996).
