On April 9, 2025, Panetta addressed the significance of USDA programs, which are vital to California’s farmers and food banks. He expressed that “California farmers and food banks rely on USDA programs to keep fresh, local food on families’ tables. Cutting these programs threatens farmers’ livelihoods and food access for millions. I’m leading CA Delegation Members in urging USDA to reverse these harmful cuts.“
By April 10, 2025, Panetta shared insights from his engagement with the community in Santa Cruz, conducted during his 14th town hall meeting. He highlighted the impact of proposed cuts to Medicaid introduced by Speaker Johnson, stating: “At my 14th town hall, I heard directly from our community in Santa Cruz about the devastating impact Speaker Johnson’s proposed cuts would have on Medicaid.“
Later that day, Panetta criticized the Majority’s budget resolution for increasing the national debt. He articulated concerns about the significant fiscal implications, noting: “I spoke against the Majority’s debt-inflating budget resolution. It hides the true cost of tax cuts for billionaires and adds $4.6T to our debt that will be paid for by our children.“
Additionally, it’s noteworthy that Panetta, 53 years old, was born in Washington, D.C. and currently resides in Carmel Valley. As a public figure deeply engaged in California’s legislative matters, Panetta continues to represent and advocate for the interests of his constituents in the 19th district.
