Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2017, shared several statements on societal and political issues on April 23, 2025. Panetta, representing California’s 19th district, continues to engage actively in legislative matters and community dialogues. His educational background includes a BA from the University of California, Davis and a JD from Santa Clara University.
On April 23, Panetta expressed his views on governmental checks and balances, stating, “Our system of checks and balances is flexing its muscles to push back on this Administration’s overreach. Through legislation, investigation, litigation, mobilization, and constant communication, we will fight back.”
Later in the day, Panetta discussed international relations, focusing on China’s role in ongoing global conflicts. He remarked, “China’s support for Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine threatens global stability and democratic values. That’s why I joined Chairman Moolenaar to introduce the No Limits Act, bipartisan legislation that would hold Chinese entities accountable for enabling Putin’s aggression.”
In addition to his legislative activities, Panetta also values community involvement. He shared his experiences from a local engagement, stating, “Appreciated the chance to speak with a local Rotary Club in South San Jose about service above self. Engaged communities like ours are key to our community and, ultimately, our democracy.”
Panetta, 53, born in Washington, D.C., and a current resident of Carmel Valley, emphasizes the importance of engaged communities in supporting democratic principles.
