Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, shared updates and announcements through a series of tweets on July 4, 2025.
In his first tweet posted at 16:01 UTC, Panetta addressed an incident where a fireworks explosion in Yolo County disrupted Independence Day celebrations across California. He expressed pride in assisting his district, CA-19, to maintain the holiday spirit. Specifically, he noted that when San Jose lost its fireworks vendor for the Lake Cunningham show, they opted for a drone display instead.
Later that day at 19:01 UTC, Panetta announced that he would be holding office hours in South San Jose on Monday, July 7th from 2:00–4:15 PM. He emphasized these meetings as an opportunity for constituents to engage with him directly about their concerns or federal issues needing assistance.
In another tweet at 21:01 UTC, Panetta highlighted a meeting with the Fayez family, who legally entered the United States under Temporary Protected Status (TPS) after supporting U.S. forces during the Afghanistan War. He criticized the current administration’s decision to revoke their protections and argued that America should reciprocate their support.
Jimmy Panetta was born in Washington D.C., raised in Carmel Valley, and is an alumnus of UC Davis and Santa Clara University School of Law.
