On April 18, 2025, Panetta expressed his honor in joining the Sikh community in his district to celebrate Vaisakhi. Panetta, who was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969, resides in Carmel Valley and has a background in law, having graduated from the University of California, Davis in 1991 and earned a JD from Santa Clara University in 1996.
