Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 19th district since 2017, addressed recent national events and legislative efforts in a series of posts on September 25, 2025.
In response to an incident at a federal facility, Panetta stated on X (formerly Twitter), “The shooting that took place at the ICE facility in Dallas was despicable. We must stand united against escalating violence, tone down the temperature of our nation’s politics, and be willing to discuss our political differences with civility and respect.” (September 25, 2025).
Later that day, he commented on ongoing government funding negotiations: “Instead of negotiating to keep the government open and lower costs, President Trump canceled talks. The majority needs to come back to the table and negotiate a bipartisan bill to keep our government open and our healthcare costs low.” (September 25, 2025).
On healthcare policy for seniors, Panetta wrote: “Patients shouldn’t waste hours chasing “ghost” providers only to face higher bills or go without care. I reintroduced the bipartisan REAL Health Providers Act to ensure Medicare Advantage plans keep provider directories accurate so seniors get the appropriate care.” (September 25, 2025).
Panetta has represented California’s 19th District since replacing Sam Farr in Congress in 2017. Born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley, he holds degrees from UC Davis and Santa Clara University.
