In a post from April 16, “At Whale Fest, I spoke about the beauty and bounty of our oceans, but also our responsibility to ensure that proper protections are in place. Events like this remind us why we must lead with science, sustainability, and stewardship.” Panetta highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and the leadership required in protecting the oceans.
Later that day, Panetta addressed international security concerns in a tweet, “At a time of war in Europe and rising global threats, slashing support for NATO undermines the single most successful alliance in human history and endangers our national security. It’s short-sighted and deeply dangerous. That’s why I authored and introduced the NATO Edge Act.” In this statement, he demonstrated his advocacy for maintaining and strengthening alliances like NATO.
