Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th congressional district, used his social media platform on November 20, 2025, to address issues related to federal healthcare funding and Native American Heritage Month.

In a post from early in the day, Panetta commented on recent legislative actions: “As the harmful effects of the Majority’s cuts to federal programs become clear, I remain committed to working with my colleagues to protect healthcare. I joined a bipartisan group to urge cooperation between the House and Senate to ensure any cost-lowering negotiations can become” (November 20, 2025).

Later that afternoon, he marked an important cultural observance: “In November, we celebrate Native American Heritage Month and recognize the cultures and traditions of our indigenous communities, including those of the tribes of our 19th Congressional District. We remain grateful for their rich history and continued contributions to our” (November 20, 2025).

Addressing healthcare again later in the evening, Panetta wrote: “This Administration and the Majority in Congress has cut billions in Medicaid, and many hospitals across the country will be unable to service those most in need. That’s why I am committed to fighting in Congress to reverse the cuts and to protect healthcare for working families.” (November 20, 2025).

Panetta has represented California’s 19th district since succeeding Sam Farr in 2017. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Davis (1991), and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University (1996).
