Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of issues on his official Twitter account, including the situation in Gaza, local memorial efforts for COVID-19 victims, and affordable housing challenges within his district.
On July 18, 2025, Panetta commented on recent violence in Gaza: “The accidental shelling of a church in Gaza is heartbreaking and unacceptable. I support a full investigation and renew my ongoing call for an immediate cessation of hostilities with the release of the hostages. The current deal on the table is a 60-day truce, which can be a”.
Later that day, he highlighted progress on a community project to honor those affected by the pandemic: “Construction is underway on Monterey County’s COVID-19 Memorial to honor the 940 lives we lost and the frontline workers who stood strong for all of us. On July 19, 2025, Panetta addressed local economic concerns: “I grew up in our Congressional District and have seen firsthand the growing issues with affordability that affect those of us who actually live here. That’s why affordable housing is my number one issue as the proud U.S. Representative for our home. It’s why I introduced a”.
Panetta has represented California’s 19th district since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. He was born in Washington D.C., in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. Panetta holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
