Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who has represented California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently addressed several issues through his social media posts, including support for local talent, concerns over foreign policy decisions, and advocacy for veterans’ mental health services.
On December 19, 2025, Panetta highlighted his meeting with a local filmmaker by posting: “Great to meet Carmel Valley’s very own Conall Jones, co-producer of the Academy Award-nominated film ‘All The Empty Rooms.’ Conall’s powerful film is an important and sobering watch, and with the most recent acts of gun violence, this vital work coming from California’s 19th”.
The following day, on December 20, he expressed concerns regarding U.S. policy towards Venezuela: “This Administration’s complete blockade of oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela is another step towards war. This is why we must vote on the No Unauthorized Force in Venezuela Act to prevent this Administration from going to war with Venezuela.”
On December 21, Panetta shared a constituent service story related to veterans’ mental health: “When a local veteran reached out to me express his concern about the lack of mental health services available to him, I was happy to work with the VA to provide him with a list of potential providers. Happy to report that the constituent is now working with a health provider to”.
Panetta has served in Congress since replacing Sam Farr in 2017 and resides in Carmel Valley. He was born in Washington D.C., graduated from UC Davis in 1991 with a BA degree, and later earned his JD from Santa Clara University in 1996.
