Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has served California’s 19th Congressional District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently addressed several issues affecting his constituents through a series of public statements. Panetta, a Democrat born in Washington, D.C., and now residing in Carmel Valley, discussed recent federal legislation and local engagement during his July 11 communications.
On July 11, 2025, Panetta criticized the impact of recent tax legislation, stating “The reconciliation tax law gives tax breaks to wealthy families and makes cuts to Medicaid, ACA subsidies, and nutrition programs. I stood with local providers as we continue to stand for patients and constituents in California’s 19th Congressional District.”
Later that day on July 11, he reported on community engagement efforts around the same issue: “I hosted another town hall in California’s 19th Congressional District to talk about the reconciliation law. Our community showed up because we know what’s at stake as we are ready to work together.”
In an additional post on July 11, Panetta highlighted his support for local law enforcement after meeting with officers: “Great to meet with Lieutenant Darren Gennuso in Templeton and welcome several new CHP officers to CA-19. Grateful for their service and proud to support law enforcement as they continue to protect our communities.”
Jimmy Panetta replaced Sam Farr in Congress in 2017. He holds a BA from the University of California, Davis (1991) and a JD from Santa Clara University (1996).
