Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on January 10, 2026.

In his first statement posted at 17:27 UTC, Panetta raised concerns about recent military actions in South America: “The President launched a large-scale military operation in Venezuela without Congressional authorization or providing any information of an imminent threat to the United States. That is why we introduced a War Powers Resolution to limit boots on the ground for Venezuela. I will”.

Later that day at 19:55 UTC, Panetta highlighted ongoing risks posed by wildfires in California and voiced support for legislative relief efforts: “As California continues to be at risk for deadly wildfires, it is important now more than ever to support victims of disasters like the LA Wildfires. That’s why I’m proud to support the Disaster Survivors Tax Relief and Recovery Act. I will continue to work in Congress to ensure”.

In another post at 23:06 UTC, Panetta criticized current trade policies affecting agricultural producers and advocated for federal assistance: “While I continue to call on the Administration to reverse its senseless tariff policy that hurts our growers and producers in the long run, I’ll still fight to secure federal funding that will help them today. Our Specialty Crop and Wine Producer Tariff Relief Act would help”.

Panetta has served as a congressional representative since replacing Sam Farr in 2017 and currently resides in Carmel Valley. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
