Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently addressed several issues through a series of tweets. Born in Washington, D.C., and currently residing in Carmel Valley, Panetta has a background in law with degrees from the University of California, Davis, and Santa Clara University.

On March 3, 2025, Panetta highlighted his intervention to assist a local veteran facing delays with VR&E benefits. He stated that after stepping in, “his payments are processed, his training facility is being paid, and he has a new Vocational Rehab Counselor.” He affirmed his commitment to veterans despite political challenges in Washington, D.C. “Veterans deserve timely support.”

The following day on March 4, 2025, Panetta participated in an immigration town hall at CSUMB. He noted the productive discussion regarding the Administration’s actions on immigration and the role Congress can play in reform efforts. Additionally, he responded to various questions on multiple issues during the event. “Great to be a part of another immigration town hall at CSUMB.”

Later that day, Panetta expressed concerns about recent firings at NOAA by the Trump Administration. He emphasized the critical nature of weather forecasting for various sectors and communities and mentioned efforts to seek answers and safeguard these essential services. “The Trump Administration’s firings at NOAA threaten our economy.”
