U.S. Congressman Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district, recently highlighted regional initiatives and concerns through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On October 7, 2025, Panetta announced the expansion of water resources for local residents, stating: “The advanced technology now available to Pure Water Monterey allows CA-19 residents more access to clean and safe drinking water. I am proud to work with local partners in Monterey County to help open the Monterey One Water Regional Treatment Plant to expand our water resources.”
Later that same day, Panetta addressed food security issues resulting from federal program cuts. He wrote: “Food banks in CA-19 are already feeling the stress from cuts to programs like SNAP. This shutdown will continue to put stress on vital services. I will continue to push for bipartisan negotiations to preserve benefits that people rely on and cut costs for hardworking families.”
On October 8, 2025, Panetta shared condolences following the death of Denny LeVett, a notable community member in Carmel-by-the-Sea: “A gentleman. A man of the town. And of course, always handsomely dressed. Denny LeVett cherished and valued the town and people of Carmel-by-the-Sea. With his understanding, appreciation, and advocacy for the history and hospitality of our community, Denny will be missed, but,”
Jimmy Panetta has represented California’s 19th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Sam Farr. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1969, Panetta currently resides in Carmel Valley. He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Davis and a law degree from Santa Clara University.
