Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently shared several updates via social media regarding achievements and initiatives within his constituency. Panetta, who succeeded Sam Farr in Congress, has been active in supporting local talent and addressing community needs.
On May 13, 2025, Panetta congratulated Claire Hamilton, a senior at San Lorenzo Valley High School, for winning the Congressional Art Competition with her piece titled “Hearts at Rest.” He noted that “Claire’s talent and perspective will now be on display in the U.S. Capitol, showing off the talent in CA-19.”
Later that day, Panetta highlighted his efforts to secure funding for affordable housing projects. He announced “Proud to have helped secure $500K for Natural Bridges Apartments in Santa Cruz,” which will add 20 new affordable units. This project exemplifies the collaboration between local vision and federal support to meet community needs.
In another update on May 13, Panetta addressed advancements in agricultural technology. He discussed his role in introducing the bipartisan Precision Loan Act to aid farmers financially. According to him: “Precision ag tech can boost yields, cut inputs, and fight climate change,” but many farmers struggle with affordability.
Born in Washington D.C., Jimmy Panetta is currently residing in Carmel Valley at age 53. He graduated from UC Davis with a BA in 1991 and earned his JD from Santa Clara University in 1996.
